Gro Harlem Brundtland to give the Opening Conference at Velo-city 2011

To all the friends of Velo-city….
You will surely be pleased to know that Gro Harlem Brundtland has been confirmed as the speaker delivering the opening conference at Velo-city 2011 in Seville. The environmental activist and public health expert is known worldwide for her “Our Common Future” report, better known as the Brundtland Report, for the United Nations. The report introduced the concept of sustainable development for the first time and has since been included in all UN programmes.

We present the details of the preliminary programme, based on more than 250 proposals received from the world over. In all, there will be 50 sub-plenary presentations, 25 question workshops and 50 round tables from 30 countries.

Ciclovida, the Seville Car-free Sunday

 

The third edition of Ciclovida was held in January in Seville; it has become a city event open to all. On Sunday, January 16th, children, families, the young and not so young were all able to make the most of an urban space usually taken over by motor traffic. This programme is gradually becoming consolidated and we will be able to enjoy Ciclovida much more often in the future.
