March 10th 2011

Only 13 days to go to the
Velo-city 2011 conference in Seville!

In our last newsletter we told you, among other things, about the participants in the first and second plenary sessions (Health and Education); on this occasion you will find information about the third, “Public investment for a better life” and fourth, “Economy and employment”.

We can confirm who will be joining Patrick Kayemba in the 4th plenary session: Joaquín Nieto, a professional committed to society and the environment and a firm supported of the green economy to combat unemployment and climate change. He is the president of honour of Sustainlabour,  International Labour Foundation for Sustainable Development and a member of the Club Español de la Energía Energy Innovation Think Tank, among others.

And from theory to practice
Don’t miss the trip scheduled for Saturday 26th March; we will cycle the 36 kilometres between Puerto Serrano and Olvera,  parallel to the river banks in a marvellous landscape where we will be able to see the colonies of buzzards that nest there.
In Spain, Greenways have recovered more than 7,000 kilometres of railway lines that are no longer in use and run through the countryside, to be enjoyed by walkers, cycling tourists and people with reduced mobility.

Please remember that the bike that you will be using during the conference will NOT be taken on the trip, for which we will have mountain bikes that will be handed out when our coach arrives at the starting point.

We are preparing a great event for this Sunday.
After the success of the four previous editions of Ciclovida (Car-free Sunday), on the 27th we will also be joining the Bicycle Parade to celebrate Metropolitan Bicycle Day together. It will be a participative occasion, when we will be able to enjoy a city with no motor-driven vehicles in which different activities will be organised for all ages.
Ciclovida (Car-free Sunday) location: from La Florida to el Prado de San Sebastián, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bicycle Parade: from La Florida to Parque del Alamillo at 12 noon!!
